SUNFLOWER SUMMER RETURNS FOR KANSAS FAMILIES
Kansas’ popular Sunflower Summer program is back for 2026, giving eligible families with school-aged children free admission to attractions statewide from July 9 to Aug. 2. Officials say the program removes travel barriers, boosts family exploration, and highlights Kansas communities. Participating attractions are now applying, with the full list due in June.

The Republic of Upper Volta, Now Burkina Faso, Gains Independence (1960)
In the European scramble for African territory in the late 19th century, France took control of the region that is now Burkina Faso.
